Recovery Support Officer

As part of a short-term initiative, the Recovery Support Officers will play a crucial role in building the capacity and confidence of local support services in utilising the GIVIT platform effectively to utilise donations to meet the needs of disaster impacted community members.

  • Flexible hybrid role (1 x Townsville, 1 x Ingham, 1x Brisbane, 1x Logan/Gold Coast (SE Qld)

About the role

GIVIT is recruiting Recovery Support Officers to assist in disaster recovery efforts in both North and Southeast Queensland following significant weather events. These short-term contract roles will provide a mix of targeted, hands-on support to local community support services, frontline recovery coordination, capacity-building, and digital support to both impacted communities and local service organisations. 

Your varied work week will see you focused on areas of greatest need. Building relationships with councils, charities and community organisations, and facilitating donation administration of goods and services to meet community need. You’ll be a key member of GIVIT's team ensuring all donated offers of goods and services are managed effectively to meet genuine need after natural disasters/emergencies and at all other times of need. 

In this role you will:

  • Report to the Queensland Manager
  • Deliver hands-on training, workshops, and 1:1 support to local recovery staff and organisations to build their capacity to use the GIVIT platform effectively Troubleshooting platform issues and providing backend administrative support to process donation requests
  • Contributing to local recovery meetings and planning groups as a GIVIT representative
  • Coordinating with local councils, community organisations and NGOs to ensure needs are identified and met quickly
  • Enhancing supply chain processes to support the fast provision of donated goods
  • Promoting awareness of available support mechanisms and the GIVIT platform
  • Maintaining strong and effective relationships with GIVIT stakeholders including state and local government, recovery agencies, charity networks and corporate donors.
  • Work with GIVIT's Marketing team to raise awareness of GIVIT and GIVIT's programs.

Skills and experience you possess:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and community engagement
  • Excellent digital literacy and confidence in learning and teaching new platforms
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery, community development, or local service coordination would be highly regarded. 

Other requirements:

  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within Queensland
  • National police check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Reliable internet connection and home office setup (for remote-based roles)
